Does your student have a good understanding of how a Christian worldview differs from other worldviews? Does your student know how to defend their faith? In this class, we will strive to gain a good understanding of four major worldviews and challenge students to learn how to effectively know and defend their worldview. We will also be looking at the historical and archeological evidence for the reliability of the Bible. Students will be able to answer for themselves: Does God Exist? and Is the Bible Reliable?
We will be using Does God Exist? for the first semester and Is the Bible Reliable? for the second semester. These are the first two DVDs in the 3 set series of the TrueU series from Focus on the Family. In Does God Exist?, Dr. Stephen Meyer plays a “philosophical survival game,” pitting four worldviews against one another in the quest to decide which one gives the best answers. Dr. Meyer examines the evidence and provides the tools needed for students to defend their faith and make it their own. In, Is the Bible Reliable?, Dr. Meyer challenges students to examine the historical and archeological evidence to determine for themselves the veracity and accuracy of Scripture.
There will be class discussions along with outside reading and homework. I will provide the readings and supplemental materials. Students will need to purchase the Discussion Guides that accompany the DVDs. These are available on christianbook.com.
This is a year-long class which can be eligible for 2 high school credits.
