Course Description: Class will involve learning many art terms and definitions, demonstrations and exercises, and project time where the student can put to use what they have learned. Some of the things covered will be line, form, perspective, value, light source, texture, shading and composition. It will also be a fun opportunity to use various drawing pencils, charcoal, drawing pens and color media. There will be a wide range of subject matter explored throughout the year. Each student will need a copy of “How To Draw What You See” by Rudy De Reyna. It can be purchased used from Amazon.
No matter the skill level of the student now, understanding and practicing these concepts can improve their satisfaction with their work. Creativity is a gift of God, and as with anything else, knowledge and practice can help that gift flourish. Students will receive a drawing kit along with the class.
