Course Description:
Is your student fascinated by interior design? Do they love to rearrange their rooms or help pick paint colors? This is the perfect class for any student who loves to design and decorate! This class is also a great introduction for students considering studying architecture or design at a collegiate level. In this class we will learn the fundamental aspects of interior design, from identifying and choosing design styles, hand drafting construction documents, and furniture design, to making color and finish selections including flooring, drapery, fabrics, lighting, and more! Throughout the class students will build a design board to present at the end of the year as their final project, which will be a fully-designed building of their choosing, either a residence or a business.
NOTE: If your student previously attended the Design & Drafting class by Tara Schrock, they may still attend this class as a “part 2” with minimal course overlap. This class is also suitable for new students!
All students will receive a personal drafting kit to keep and bring with them to each class. This class will include regular homework and a final project with in-class presentation, which parents will be invited to attend.
If you have a student with special needs, please contact the teacher directly to discuss.
