Tuition / Fees: $250.00 tuition ($125.00 per semester) + $25.00 Supply Fee. An enrollment fee of $25 plus the materials fee of $25 is due within 2 weeks of registration and will come off of your tuition. Both the supply fee and enrollment fee are non-refundable and will hold your place in the class.
Students will have fun acquiring speaking, basic writing, reading, listening, and interpreting skills, as well as cultural awareness. Students will be proficient in using correct grammar and punctuation. Students will be able to compose short paragraphs of description. They will analyze elements of Hispanic culture, literature and/or fine art. They will build their personal vocabulary that will include dialogue, presentation, dictating, and recall.
Suggested grades will be based on in-class discussion, assignments in and outside of class, class participation, reading and writing pieces. There will be some quizzes and a test for each unit. Students should spend roughly 1 hour a day/ 5 days a week studying, practicing the vocabulary, reading and completing assignments. It is very easy to get behind in a foreign language. Students must be able to put in the time required.
This is a two semester class worth 2 credits of high school Spanish or World Language on a high school transcript. Second semester does build upon the first. Those who wish to enroll in the second semester only must discuss with Mrs. Bell before enrolling.
