Course Description:

Your students will become powerful communicators when they practice public speaking skills. We will be using this fast-paced public speaking course which is presented in a series of videos and class lectures over twelve weeks. The videos contain a series of lectures by Mr. Pudewa followed by example speeches given by students. We cover the general characteristics of good speaking as well as the specifics for organizing, planning, and delivering various types of speeches. Introductory, narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and impromptu speeches are covered and will be prepared and presented by each student.

*Please note, depending on enrollment, there may be a week or two when the class may not end until after 10:00 am due to the delivery of our speeches. I will let you know before classes begin the exact dates.

Students will need to purchase the IEW Intro. to Public Speaking Student Packet. This can be obtained from IEW’s website: https://iew.com/shop/products/introduction-public-speaking-student-packet-only

The class is worth 1 credit of elective, communication, or public speaking on a high school transcript.
