Tuition / Fees:

$390.00 tuition ($195.00 per semester). An enrollment fee of $50 is due within 2 weeks of registration for the first semester and another $50 deposit will be due for the second semester by 11/7/23. Both will come off of your tuition for each semester. The enrollment fees are non-refundable and will hold your place in the class.

This is FULL year-long class.

Course Description:

Pre Algebra is the first math course in high school and will guide you through among other things: integers, one-step equations, inequalities and equations, graphs and functions, percent, probabilities. We also present an introduction to geometry and right triangles. It is the math course that takes elementary math skills and foundational concepts (addition, subtraction, fractions, etc..) and adds to them with our first introduction to Algebra. This is a great stepping stone to begin High School math as concepts are introduced at a basic level so that they will be familiar when you move onto Algebra 1.

In Pre Algebra you will study*:

Review of natural number arithmetic

New types of numbers such as integers, fractions, decimals and negative numbers

Factorization of natural numbers

Properties of operations (associative, distributive and so on)

Simple (integer) roots and powers

Rules of evaluation of expressions, such as operator precedence and use of parentheses

Basics of equations, including rules for invariant manipulation of equations

Variables and exponentiation

I am excited to offer this course because I feel it will build students’ confidence as they proceed into different High school math curriculum’s.

*I will be offering tutoring on Thursdays at Epiphany from 9-11am this year. Please schedule your other classes around this time on Thursdays if your student needs additional help. This is included in the cost of the class.

I provide the material except a binder, writing utensils and a calculator.
