Watercolor & Ink (Monday)
Course Description: This is an in depth dive into all things watercolor. We will be starting with basics of watercolor techniques; washes, glazing, water-control, color mixing and layering. Many advanced techniques such as the use of additives and masking will also be explored. Along the way we will also practice a lot of drawing skills. Using permanent ink in conjunction with the paint will be apart of many of the projects. Some of the projects will use gouache exclusively or along with the watercolor. Through out the year students should plan on having some sketchbook homework each week and can look forward to having three matted projects and one framed project per semester.
All supplies are furnished other than the book and a watercolor paper sketchbook. There will be a field trip scheduled for any who’d like to participate!
No matter the skill level of the student now, understanding and practicing these concepts can improve their satisfaction with their work. Creativity is a gift of God, and as with anything else, knowledge and practice can help that gift flourish. Students will receive a drawing kit along with the class.
